Logo and brand toolkit

When you receive funding from us, we want you to shout about it from the rooftops.

You’ll need Sport England and National Lottery branding to do this.

On this page you’ll find the necessary logos, guidance on using them, and some pointers on the best ways to announce your award.

Logos and style guidance

Firstly, you need to determine whether you should use our joint National Lottery and Sport England lockup logo, or a standard Sport England logo.

Most of our current funding programmes are funded by the National Lottery, so it’s most likely that the joint logo should be used.

However, if your project is wholly Exchequer funded, then you simply use the Sport England logo.

We’ve worked with the National Lottery to build a Brand Toolkit. This contains all the different logos you might need; both joint National Lottery and Sport England logos as well as our standard stand-alone Sport England logo – each in vector, jpg and png formats.

We know that not everyone is a graphic design expert, though, so we’ve put together a PDF guide which includes tips on how you can get logos looking their very best.

There’s also some help on understanding the different file types that the logo is available in, as well as other advice on photography and social media.

By downloading and using any of the assets within our logo and branding toolkit, you agree to abide by the terms of use, which can be found here.

Please note: you should only download and use our logo if you're permitted to do so. We reserve the right to stop you from using our logo if we do not believe its use is appropriate.

Social media

Social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are great ways of publicising your grant news.

Please always acknowledge National Lottery players' support using the hashtag #NationalLottery when posting content related to your grant.

Below is guidance on suggested posts, how to set up social media accounts and suggested digital assets to use on social media when announcing your funding.

Media

Local media is an excellent way of telling people in your community the good news about your grant and raising awareness of what you do.

To help you do so, we've produced a template press release and advice on contacting local media.

It's also important to tell your local MP about your work and your National Lottery grant. This keeps them informed about what funding goes into their constituencies, which helps with their parliamentary work.

They may also be happy to help publicise your good news, so we've put together a template email you can send to them.

National governing bodies

If a national governing body (NGB) receives funding from the National Lottery via us, for a specific project or programme, they should simply use the Lottery logo as a standalone – i.e. without the Sport England logo (see below).

However, should they receive funding via us that comes from the exchequer, then they should use the Sport England logo by itself.

Lastly, in the case of general literature or branding for an NGB as a whole  – which receives funding both from the National Lottery and from the exchequer – then the lockup of the Lottery and Sport England logos should be used.

Ordering signage

If you’ve received funding from us for your National Lottery-funded project, then you’ll need to order and pay for your signs through CSM Live.

You should have received an order form within your award agreement, if not you can download it via the link below. Please send your completed form to Nicola Walsh at CSM Live.

If your award has been through the Community Asset Fund (CAF) programme then you should contact DMA Signs for your signage - or see your award letter for details.

Signage for National Lottery awards should feature the joint Sport England and National Lottery logo. If your project is Exchequer-funded, then please follow the guidance here.
