We fund nearly all types of physical activity
The Movement Fund supports almost every type of physical activity, including:
- active travel
- walking
- cycling
- fitness
- sporting activities
See the full list of recognised sports and activities.
We fund high-risk activities with affiliation
If your project involves high-risk activities then your organisation and/or coaches must be affiliated with the recognised governing body.
See the full list of high-risk activities and their recognised national governing bodies.
Check the rules on football projects
We fund football projects which are about delivering activity. For example, walking football and other recreational football activities which support wider social, community and health outcomes.
We do not fund football projects to improve or create pitches and facilities. Those projects should apply to the Football Foundation instead.
The Football Foundation can fund things like goalposts, floodlights, pitch maintenance, machinery and more.
Check the restrictions on specific activities
We don't fund:
- activities for people outside England
- activities solely for under-fives – though they can join an activity where most of those taking part are over five
- school activities which are only for pupils, or which the school is already funded to deliver
- play equipment – for example, children's playgrounds
- dance, if it's for artistic or performance purposes, rather than getting people active.
